In my sketchbook: 22/07/15

Its been a while since I've shared a look inside my sketchbooks, and with lots of different projects on the go lately I've got plenty to share!
The recent pages of my sketchbooks have been filled with fairytale palaces, forests, miniature gardens, succulents, ice cream and spinning wheels!

In my Sketchbook: 29/06/15

I've been working on lots of different projects lately, so the contents of my sketchbooks have been pretty varied. The pages have been filled with pigeons, moons, fruit, turkish rugs and make-up brushes!
Here's a small selection of some of my favourite pages from the last few weeks:

If you want to keep up to date with what I'm drawing, I regularly share snaps of my sketchbook pages over on Instagram.
I'll be back on Wednesday with another new illustration to show you (those pages of drawings of moons will finally be explained!)

New Illustartion: Bir Zamanlar

I've mentioned a few times over the last couple of weeks that I've been working on a new illustration inspired by somewhere we saw on holiday. Well its now finally finished!

On the last day of our holiday to Turkey we took a boat trip along the Dalyan river.
We had a great guide for the day and he was explaining a lot of what we saw as we sailed along. At one point, we went past this hill and he said "Once upon a time there was a castle on the top of that hill".

Being a lover of fairytales, this immediately stood out to me and I quickly snapped a few pictures so I could draw it when we got home!
I've titled it in Turkish to keep with the theme ('Bir Zamanlar' translates to 'Once Upon a Time'), and I decided on a colour palette using some other photos form our holiday (see this blog post, I ended up combining to palettes).

Below you can see a few work in progress shots, including my initial sketchbook drawings, and various stages of the final illustration, and some close-ups of the finished piece.

This was the biggest illustration I've worked on for quite a while, so it took quite a bit of patience (and a few fine-liners!) but I've really enjoyed it! I've got quite a few more ideas in my notebook at the moment for some more illustrations I want to work on, so look out for those soon!

In my sketchbook: 27/05/15

I spent the bank holiday weekend with my family, which gave me some time to get some drawing done, before that I hadn't done any since before my holiday and I had a few ideas I wanted to work on!
I've made a start on an illustration that was inspired by my holiday, but after drawing it in my sketchbook I decided I wanted to do a bigger, more detailed version. So I'll be continuing with that over the weekend and should be sharing it next week!
I've also drawn out, but not coloured yet, a quote illustration based on Lady & the Tramp, which me, Mum (& Beabea) watched over the weekend. I'm hoping to get that finished today or tomorrow so it should be ready to share very soon!
And finally, I've been drawing some owls for the start of a new commission for some cupcake accessories.

In my Sketchbook: 30/04/15

I haven't done as much drawing as I'd like over the last few months. I spent quite a while editing and colouring the designs for my new range of cards, and then spent a few weeks sewing, baking brooches and book-binding in the build up to Renegade.
But over the last 2 weeks I've managed to get back into drawing a bit more often (although my Diary Doodles have been a bit abandoned lately!), mainly as part of a fun new commission. I'm designing a range of party products with a fairytale princess theme, so my sketchbooks have been filled with carriages, butterflies, princess crowns and flowers (many of my favourite things to draw!).
I've also done a bit of doodling in the evenings to try and get some ideas for future card designs.

Here's a few of my favourite pages from the last two weeks.

In my sketchbook: 25/02/15

As I said yesterday, today I'm sharing some of my recent sketchbook pages which went in to creating some new patterns for fabric. I've been drawing pages of bumble bees, branches, blossoms, banners and animals!

I've also been drawing some more animals (some of which are new versions of some old illustrations) to get printed onto small squares of fabrics for another new product.

Once the fabrics are delivered I'll be getting to work on lots of new products, which I'll be sharing here very soon!

In my sketchbook: 28/01/15

This week I finished off all the new card designs, and this morning I sent them off to the printers (along with some new business cards, thank you notes and stickers!)
Today's In my sketchbook post provides quite a few sneak peeks at the new designs coming to the shop next week!
